Hype or Reality Check
Hype or Reality Check With so much being said about the state of the economy I cant help but wonder, how bad is it really? Unemployment rates are not as high (yet) as they have been in recent history. Back in1982-83 the unemployment ratewas in the double-digits.We have also had several periods of time recently with similar rates as today. You couldscour through the DOL website, orview this easy-to-read link. Themanufacturing sector is not dead. The USstill generates moremoney from manufactured goods than China.(cant find the source, but I readit somewhere). People in mylittle town are still packing restaurants on Friday nights. There are still jobs out there.I know of several people who landed within the last month, there are probably more, but I just dont know about them. Indeed.com has listed over 4,200 jobsin Rochester, NY.And certainly thats not allof the jobs available. 200+ of those jobs posted salariesgreater than $100K. Little old Craigslist listed over 50 jobsin Rochester, NY on Sunday alone. Monroe County civil service listed over 20exams to fill positionsas well as on-going exams for over 30 job titles they are continuously recruiting for. This means that there are multiple jobs within these 30 job titles/occupations. It is easy to say there arent any jobs, but the truth is, thereare. As long as you are willing to do what they are looking for. Keep an open mind. Think positive thoughts. Get creative. If you havent created a target list of companies, do so NOW. You will be much more likely to find something if you are shooting at the right target.
